ASOS

Have you been checking out the goods on ASOS.com? It's kind of wicked cute stuff. More wicked cute (like sharp and chic) than precious cute (a la ModCloth). I ordered two dresses from there today. I await delivery with bated breath! Nope, this is not a sponsored post.

Also, the Jayhawks are #1 in the nation baby. 7-0 in conference play. I saw them play Nebraska at home yesterday and man, the future looks bright! I have little to no tolerance for that other popular sport that is having a big event today. What a brat I am.

So, a few awesome people already know this (probably the same few who read this blog), but last semester I did a graduate research project on Outfit of the Day bloggers. Now it looks like I may write my thesis for my Sociology M.A. on OOTD blogs. In the interest of full disclosure, I comment and subscribe to blog feeds both because I find them interesting and because I'm researching. In ethnographic terms I am doing participant observation. I just want you to know that, because I'm not trying to be some kind of sneakypants.

Hope you're well!

  2. That is so interesting that you are doing research on fashion bloggers/outfit of the day bloggers! I did mine on something much less interesting....dialectal differences in North American Speakers/phonetics. Hence the reason why I have a fashion blog....I need a creative outlet!! :)

  4. Yay! So excited to see what you got? And I'm even more excited because I've had a couple of very good glasses of wine... What else am I supposed to do after four days of being snowed in and just found out I have another one tomorrow? I'm going to regret this comment tomorrow but all of this is to say that I'm REALLY excited to see your ASOS purchases! Woohoo!

  5. Does wearing khaki while you research make you feel like you're working harder? I bet it would.

I am starting school next month so I might do a little, highly scientific, experiment on said khaki.

Also, I would be very interested to read your thesis when it's all said and done.

    Good luck with it :)

  7. Okay, I am really considering ordering a few items from ASOS...the only thing is that I am freaked out by the UK Sizing system. I am so scared to order something and it not fit because I know I won't go through the trouble to return. But now you have me thinking I can do it...let me check out the site again!

  8. Speeeeaking of sneakypants, thanks for telling me what pants I was wearing (haha wow, this is a bit funny out of context). And your comment was silly, haha-- I'm pretty sure if I tried to raise fish, they'd go belly up in a week. D:

  11. Thanks for stopping by the blog. You're right. It's the jeans that are the inevestment piece. I also have found Asos to have some pretty cute affordable stuff. If you want to know anything about outfit blogs feel free to email me. I think this paper sounds really interesting.

  14. Haha, if you send them my blog as a resume, they may start barfing sunshine and rainbows.

It's been awhile since you've updated-- but as a grad student, I can't imagine how busy you are. Thanks for the really nice comment, though!
